Frequently Asked Questions

    Expert Medical Opinion Service is a comprehensive virtual health advisory service by a dedicated Physician Case Manager to obtain medical opinions from global specialists.

    Physician Case Manager is a person who will contact the eligible member by phone or email to provide guidance at every step of the customer’s medical journey.

    If the customer has a serious medical condition and wants to know further related to his/her diagnosis or treatment plan options that have been obtained previously. Expert Medical Opinion Service will help accompany customers in obtaining medical opinions, explanations of diagnoses, and recommendations.

    Teladoc Health, Inc is the service provider for Expert Medical Opinion Service. Teladoc Health is a global virtual care leader with over 27 years in business serving millions of customers around the world.

    • Applicant’s/ Service User’s policy must be in force;
    • Service User must have had previous medical inquiries and consultations with at least one medical practitioner, with a prior diagnosis and in need of second medical opinion from other medical practitioner;
    • Service User has done a medical checkup and has the official medical history.

    We understand that customers who have serious medical conditions often feel uncertain and doubt regarding treatment options and the appropriate course of action to take. Through this service, Zurich would like to help customers get a second opinion on the medical condition faced and choose the appropriate treatment, so that the customer can discuss with the treating doctor on the next steps.

    Expert Medical Opinion Service is available exclusively for Zurich Life insurance Malaysia Berhad’s customers who have active insurance plan (In force) for selective Critical Illness products.

    No, eligible members do not need to pay any additional fee to use the Expert Medical Opinion Service. Eligible members can use Expert Medical Opinion Service as many as they want as long as the policy is forced.

    Zurich’s customers who have active insurance plan (In force) for selective Critical Illness products are automatically eligible for the Expert Medical Opinion. If the eligible members wish to use Expert Medical Opinion Service, they will need to complete the enrolment portal at http://zurichmy.teladochealthasia.com .

    Once enrolment is completed and if the customer is confirmed to be eligible for this service, Physician Case Manager will then contact the eligible member via phone or email and provide guidance at every step of his/her medical journey.

    For further questions regarding information about this service, eligible member can contact Teladoc Health via hotline/ WhatsApp at XXX and e-mail at zurichmy@teladochealth.com . Our service hours shall be Monday to Sunday from 9am to 9pm (except Malaysia public holidays).

    As an information security policy and to protect customer privacy so that personal data is not exposed, registration cannot be done through Expert Medical Opinion hotline. Customer can only do the enrolment through enrolment portal or email.

    When Service User chooses to use Expert Medical Opinion Service, Service User will be required to provide Service User’s consent and agree to the terms of Expert Medical Opinion Service for medical record collection via secure channels.

    Zurich and Teladoc Health recognize the importance and sensitivity of such personal data and will only share information that is required to accurately analyse the customer’s condition and enable appropriate recommendations to be made.

    It is natural that medical opinions from different doctors can vary. Teladoc Health provides an independent opinion with the purpose of helping Service Users to make an informed decision. Service User is encouraged to discuss the Teladoc Health report with his/her treating doctor. Teladoc Health does not directly treat patients or prescribe medication. Service User shall make treatment decisions in consultation with his/her treating doctor. The ultimate aim is to empower Service Users to make the best decision for their health.

    Conversations may be recorded for quality management purposes, and Service User will be required to acknowledge this in service terms during the enrolment. If Service User prefers not to be recorded, please do not proceed with the enrolment.

    To protect Service User’s privacy, Teladoc Health will not disclose details of the session, or conversation logs to any third parties, including insurance companies, without Service User’s consent. The information provided will only be used by the Physician Case Manager, global specialists, or service team assisting with Service User’s medical condition and will only be used to provide the service.

    Applicable Scenarios

    Eligible members diagnosed with a medical condition and seeking support in medical decision making:

    1. Wish to seek expert review on the diagnosis and treatment options
    2. Want to better understand their medical condition
    3. Want to seek treatment alternatives and the impact
    4. Would like to explore independent treating doctor options
    5. Require ongoing support and medical advice to better manage their condition after treatment

    Inapplicable Scenarios

    Eligible members diagnosed with one of the following are not eligible for the Service:

    1. Medical emergencies.
    2. Accidents;
    3. Urgent or life-threatening situations, such as ICU admission;
    4. Daily or common issues, such as colds, flu, fever, occasional rash, etc.;
    5. Long-term chronic disease management such as chronic hepatitis, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. (however, any complications of chronic diseases shall be covered); or
    6. Mental health conditions such as anorexia/ bulimia, mental health-related sleeping disorder, anxiety, depression, etc.

    Notes:

    To qualify for the service, the eligible member must have had previous medical inquiries and consultations with at least one medical practitioner, with a prior diagnosis, in a field related to the medical problem.

    The tests, treatments, procedures, devices or medication recommended may or may not be covered by Policy with Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad. Customers are advised to confirm the policy coverage with Zurich before undergoing any services.
